Departing from Martinique · Le Marin marina — direct flights from Paris

10 days round trip: Martinique → Grenadines → Martinique

A complete southern Caribbean loop, from Martinique to the Tobago Cays and back, with time for the islands along the way.
Length
10 days, round trip
Sailing
Trade winds; some long passages, up to 45–50 nm
Best for
Experienced crews wanting to reach the Tobago Cays from Martinique

This 10-day round trip from Le Marin reaches the Tobago Cays, but it is an ambitious itinerary with several long passages and little weather margin. It follows the west coast of St Lucia south, continues to Bequia and the Cays, then returns north via St Lucia. Confirm the route with the charter company and check forecasts, clearance formalities and the crew’s experience before departure; actual stops may need to change.

  1. Day 1
    Le Marin → Sainte-Anne

Board in Le Marin, complete the briefing and check provisions. If the boat is ready early and conditions allow, make the short 5 nm hop to Sainte-Anne for a first swim. Otherwise, spend the night near the base as authorised by the charter company.

  2. Day 2
Sainte-Anne → Rodney Bay, St Lucia

Allow around 25 nm for the crossing to St Lucia. Arrive with enough time for entry formalities at Rodney Bay; enjoy the marina waterfront if time permits.

  3. Day 3
    Rodney Bay → Soufrière

Sail about 17–20 nm down St Lucia’s west coast. If time and conditions allow, stop at Marigot Bay before continuing to Soufrière for views of the Pitons and an authorised mooring.

  4. Day 4
Soufrière → Cumberland Bay, St Vincent

A longer passage of roughly 35 nm. Leave early after checking the forecast and local clearance requirements. Cumberland Bay offers a dramatic green backdrop for the night, subject to conditions and local guidance.

  5. Day 5
    Cumberland Bay → Bequia

Sail around 20 nm south to Admiralty Bay. Complete entry formalities for St Vincent and the Grenadines as required, then explore Port Elizabeth or relax at Princess Margaret Beach.

  6. Day 6
Bequia → Canouan → Tobago Cays

Plan a long day of roughly 25–30 nm, depending on the route and stop. If conditions and daylight allow, make a brief stop at Canouan before continuing to the Tobago Cays; otherwise skip the stop and prioritise a safe arrival. Pay the marine park fees and follow anchoring and wildlife rules.

  7. Day 7
    Tobago Cays

Spend the day swimming, snorkelling and exploring the islets. Respect turtle-protection rules, reef restrictions and anchoring guidance, and arrange any local beach barbecue only if vendors are available.

  8. Day 8
    Tobago Cays → Bequia

Begin the return north with a passage of roughly 30 nm to Bequia. Leave early and treat this as a full sailing day; timing depends on wind, sea state and crew experience.

  9. Day 9
Bequia → Rodney Bay, St Lucia

A very long northbound passage of approximately 45–50 nm. This leg is demanding and may not be suitable for every crew or charter schedule. Confirm feasibility with the charter company; if conditions are unfavourable, do not attempt to keep to the itinerary at the expense of safety.

  10. Day 10
    Rodney Bay → Le Marin

Allow around 25 nm to return to Martinique and Le Marin. Check-out deadlines and border formalities must be confirmed in advance. This schedule has almost no weather buffer, so a round trip reaching the Tobago Cays is better planned over more than 10 days when possible.

Skipper’s tip. This 10-day round trip to the Tobago Cays is a demanding option: it includes a 45–50 nm northbound passage and almost no weather buffer. The charter company must confirm that the route and check-out timing are feasible. For a more relaxed cruise, allow 12–14 days; with only 10 days, consider staying around Martinique and St Lucia instead of rushing south.

Departing from St Vincent · Blue Lagoon — at the heart of the Grenadines

7 nights round trip: St Vincent → Tobago Cays

You are in the Grenadines from day one: short hops, maximum time at anchor.
Length
7 nights, round trip
Sailing
Short sheltered hops, 5–15 nm
Best for
Families, first-time charterers

Starting from St Vincent puts the Grenadines on your doorstep. Every leg is short and sheltered, which leaves plenty of time to swim, snorkel and explore ashore. It is the most relaxed way to discover the islands, and our favourite first Caribbean charter for families and mixed crews.

  1. Day 1
    Blue Lagoon → Bequia

Boarding, briefing and provisioning, then about 10 nm to Admiralty Bay. Dinner in Port Elizabeth, the lively little capital of Bequia.

  2. Day 2
    Bequia

A day to slow down: Lower Bay and Princess Margaret Beach, the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary, snorkelling and an island tour, with the boat staying at anchor.

  3. Day 3
    Bequia → Mustique

About 12 nm to Britannia Bay. Macaroni Beach on the Atlantic side, then sunset at Basil’s Bar, the legendary beach bar of the island.

  4. Day 4
    Mustique → Canouan

About 15 nm. Long white-sand beaches and calm water at Charlestown Bay, with a reef to snorkel just off the boat.

  5. Day 5
    Canouan → Tobago Cays

Only about 8 nm to the marine park: turtles at Baradal, snorkelling on Horseshoe Reef and a barbecue on the beach in the evening.

  6. Day 6
    Tobago Cays → Mayreau

A short sail of about 5 nm to Salt Whistle Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches of the Caribbean. Walk up to the church above Saline Bay for the view over the Cays.

  7. Day 7
    Mayreau → Bequia

About 30 nm back north, close to the wind: a livelier sail, so we plan it for the morning. Last night in Admiralty Bay.

  8. Day 8
    Bequia → St Vincent

A short morning sail of about 10 nm back to the base and disembarkation.

Skipper’s tip. Want Union Island too? Swap the second night in Bequia for a night in Clifton: one more island and Happy Island at sunset. Start the northbound legs early in the day.

Departing from Grenada · Port Louis / St George’s — the Spice Island

10 days round trip: Grenada → Carriacou → Tobago Cays

Sail north with the trade winds on the beam, through Carriacou and the southern Grenadines.
Length
10 days, round trip
Sailing
Beam reach, 3–30 nm a day
Best for
Divers, explorers off the beaten track

Grenada offers a quieter, more authentic Caribbean: spice plantations, an underwater sculpture park, and the islands of Carriacou and Petit Martinique before you reach Union Island and the Tobago Cays. Ten days let you enjoy it all without hurrying, with a spare day in Carriacou to absorb the weather.

  1. Day 1
    St George’s → Molinière Bay

Boarding, briefing and provisioning. A short sail to Molinière Bay and snorkelling at the Underwater Sculpture Park, one of the most original dives of the Caribbean.

  2. Day 2
    Molinière → Carriacou (Tyrrel Bay)

About 30 nm along the west coast of Grenada. Your skipper’s briefing covers the exclusion zone around the Kick’em Jenny submarine volcano.

  3. Day 3
    Carriacou

Sandy Island and the reef around it, Paradise Beach and the Hillsborough waterfront. Grenada check-out is done here when needed.

  4. Day 4
    Carriacou → Union Island

About 12 nm to Clifton: customs clearance into St Vincent & the Grenadines, kitesurfers in the bay and Happy Island for the evening.

  5. Day 5
    Union Island → Tobago Cays

About 8 nm. Turtles, reefs and a lobster on the beach, with Petit Tabac, the small islet of Pirates of the Caribbean, in front of your bow.

  6. Day 6
Tobago Cays → Petit St Vincent

About 12 nm. Stop at Palm Island for a swim, then reach the Mopion sandbar, a tiny islet with a single thatched umbrella.

  7. Day 7
    Petit St Vincent → Carriacou

About 10 nm back south to Tyrrel Bay or Hillsborough, with the formalities for re-entering Grenada.

  8. Day 8
    Carriacou

A spare day that doubles as a weather buffer: diving, hiking, or simply swimming off the boat in the bay.

  9. Day 9
    Carriacou → Prickly Bay (Grenada)

About 30 nm south on a comfortable reach. Last night in Prickly Bay or around Hog Island, depending on the wind.

  10. Day 10
    Disembarkation

Return to the base at Port Louis in the morning.

Skipper’s tip. Fly into Grenada, sail north and, if you prefer one way, finish in St Vincent or Union Island. The one-way fee is included in your quote.
